and i've deal with unreliable or emm... not so good servicing people. I'm not saying that i'm that good. BUT.. my mentor was good. Not that good to the point that she became famous around the world.. maybe only among the people in the local industry here. but still... she made me go this far from one company to other different company.
well, first of all as a human being, you must empty your cup before you start. Because if your cup is full then you won't learn anything. Those people will have a difficulty in being positive. And success might be going a bit further from them.
so if your cup is empty, let's watch and learn from your surrounding
lets get to what lesson i get from my mentor lastime.
I was a shy person, i was so scared to talk to elder people, i feel i'm just a little kid i don't think so its polite for me to talk to bosses like this and that. Or even giving orders to them. even worse... debating...(its either i was being too polite or being too scared... haha)
and when i told her my reason she rolled her eyes and say,"What???they wont eat you alive from the phone!?besides they dun know who you are!!act like you're some one BIG and talk like a manager cuz you are a manager rite now!
i paused for a bit, she made me think...SHE'S RITE!!!!YOu got a point there!!
"what are you waiting for??pick up the damn phone and start talking!"
That's how you do it.... if the negotiation fail...then try other new clients...
That's for intro to new client if you wanna grab their attention. or talking to the media.
But, talking to existing clients, this is the hardest part. Some clients are just nice... but others might not be nice at all...
what you do, hold your breath... and let go of our anger (not rite to the clients face) make your self happy by saying this in heart"i'm gonna charge you higher for making this difficult" and smile.... make your self feel better without ruining your image in front of the client.
How ever, if you don't know how to explain to client or you don't really understand the rationale behind the design(lets say you don't have art background), sit and ask your art director or designer. it will be much easier for you as well. Don't be arrogant towards designer, at least you learn something by asking.
cuz talking is your job. Selling is your job.. so you should lower yourself to do anything to be succeed. I know sometimes designers they have short temper, but it will be even worse if you ruin the art they have make... and present the wrong thing about it and fail.
might as well you ask and if they don't wanna help, its not 100% your fault then
